On 20 May 2016 Diego Varela was invited to give a lecture as a keynote speaker at an international conference on Crosss-Border cooperation at Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University (Ukraine). The topic chosen was "European integration and the economic development of border regions". In this lecture he focused on the differential impact of European integration on border regions, depending on their nature as internal or external border regions.
With a budget of €454 billion for 2014-20, the European structural and investment funds (ESIFs) are the European Union's main investment policy tool. By 2023, it is intended that the ESIFs will deliver a critical mass of investment in key EU priority areas, to respond to the needs of the real economy by supporting job creation and by getting the European economy growing again in a sustainable way. In this public lecture and panel discussion we will count with the participation of a guest lecturer that is visiting us from the department of management of Politechnika Lubelska, Dr.
Nina Kouprianova (University of Toronto) gave a lecture by video-conference on Russian natalism on 6 July 2012 as part of the second edition of a summer course on The Future of the EU. After a recorded lecture with Spanish subtitles, which was a complete success, she was able to answer questions live asked by the audience at Universidade da Coruña.
On 17 March 2016 I participated by video conference in the presentation of the book on Euroscepticism I co-edited with Alina Bargaoanu and Loredana Radu. The event took place at SNSPA, was chaired by Alina Bargaoanu, and counted with the presence of distinguished guests, such as Ioan Mircea Pascu, vice-president of the European Parliament (SPD, RO), and Ovidiu Nahoi, editor in chief of Radio France International in Romania.
