In the week from 22 to 26 June 2015, Diego Varela was invited to visit ESEIG, Instituto Politecnico do Porto, in Vila do Conde, Portugal, to discuss about "Labour mobility in the European Union: opportunities and challenges".
Tetiana Havlin of the University of Siegen gave a guest lecture to the students of the course on human capital policy in the European Union in the framework of the Jean Monnet module's activities. In this lecture she introduced students to the concept of "diversity management" in the European Union.

Simulation of rapporteurship allocation in the committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs of the European Parliament. Students allocated a total of 85 rapporteurships using an auction-like system. The pieces of legislation included issues such as immigration, asylum and visas. The simulation exercise took place in a beautiful Council Room kindly provided by the Faculty of Construction of Universitatea Tehnica Gheorghe Asachi din Iasi.
On 24 September I gave a lecture on 'Human capital policy in the EU' at the Political, Social and International Studies (PSI) research seminar of the University of East Anglia, UK, after which I had a very productive discussion with colleagues from this department. This was an opportunity to present the new Jean Monnet module on Population and Human Capital Policy in the EU that I am starting this year at the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi, with the generous support of the European Commission.
The director of the international relations office of Universidade da Coruña, Prof. Dr. Fernando Peña, handed over diplomas to the participants in Universidade da Coruña's summer school on The future of the European Union 3: in search of peace and prosperity.
