Maybe the ideal would be a mixture of all four alternatives, which would encompass the interests, curiosity and skills of the person, plus what the world needs and the business interests, but since we can only choose one alternative, I am more favorable to the latter, which is related the world needs. I would choose that alternative because those needs are often overlooked or ignored, since they lack an immediate economic return, even if they may affect the life of many people. The first video demonstrates that by looking at the data we can know more about the needs of the world, and knowing the facts can be a useful way to choose a doctoral topic.

Obviously, not only one aspect may drive our researches. There must be a combination of factors as what you like, something you are good at, know what employees need etc. However, one of the most important factor that guides the studies must be what the world needs. The role of the scientist is to help the world. The results of the researches must change people thoughts, observation and how to deal with people and the world. In Brazil, in scientific methodology we always have to justify why we want to do that, and we have to answers looking at teh relevance of that study for the world. The studies must be part of the world and not be far from it. One example, is the study of the vaccination for COVID-19. That's what the world needs !

this is type question that's drive me. When I started my academic and professional career several year ago, I was under idea that I'll solve so many and many problems but, over the time I realized that I was able to create such more problems than solve them. Such as, and not limited to: pollution, irregular disposal, misuse of resources, time, money and even life itself. Nowadays I have reductionist and simplistic view of products and services, and it includes my research. However, it seems simple to look at the world and “pinch” a problem and says "I’ll solve it" this is a great step, that requires responsibility, effort, dedication, time, availability, guidance and so on. This is how I look at research, a person or some people choose a small fraction of the world and try to solve it, or they spend years looking at as “a” problem. To generate solutions such as models, framework, systems, algorithms and procedures and more. At last, research is just a journey

One of the more important things to consider when choosing a doctoral research topic is looking at what the world needs. Concentration on such content will help the world gather more information on issues that will help them in their daily lives minimizing issues of mistakes that one may do while getting involved in their daily errands. The primary target is to create an impact in an individual’s life through various mediums.
